Don’t Believe In Yourself

We’ve all heard motivational speakers, read self-help books, listened to productivity podcasts and watched the inspiring videos of public speakers; one thing they all have in common is the admonishment that you believe in yourself.

“Believe in yourself!” sounds like great advice, but if it’s for the purpose of reaching your fullest potential (which it should be), then it’s not such a great idea.

You can never reach your fullest potential by believing in yourself. The reason is simple; you don’t *KNOW* your fullest potential. Merely based on the fact that you don’t know your fullest potential, it becomes almost impossible to reach it. It’s like driving a car without a destination. If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never get there.

So who knows your fullest potential? Only the One who created you. When your phone has a problem, you take it to the people that created the phone. Simply because they know the phone better than you do. Sometimes, they go into your settings, tap a button a number of times, and it opens up an entirely different menu from what you usually see or know. They have the tools to physically open up your phone and explore the possible issues, thereby finding the solution. They know how long your phone will last, its performance, endurance, and much more. They have all this knowledge about your phone for one simple reason; they created the phone.

Every piece of creation works best in the hands of its creator. A pencil, which was created by human beings, can’t draw by itself. It’s pretty useless when by itself. However, in the hand of its creator (mankind), it reaches its fullest potential. It creates beautiful, meaningful, and magnificent works of art.

In the same way, you were created by God, and if you want to reach your fullest potential, living a life that creates beautiful, meaningful, and magnificent things, then you’ll need to believe in God. God is able to do amazing things through us. Things greater and better than we can imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

Speak to God and find what He wants to do through you. Only then will you begin to find out your fullest potential. Ask him to reveal His original purpose for your life. Trust me, He has one (Jeremiah 29:11).

If you’d like to begin this journey of living at your fullest potential, then say this prayer: “Dear Father, I don’t want to live a life outside of your purpose. I want to live to my fullest potential, based on your design. I want to live a meaningful life. I surrender to you today. Open my eyes to see, my ears to hear, and my mind to comprehend the great and mighty work you have for me, in Jesus name I pray, amen.”
