Before we understand how to overcome fear, let’s define what fear is. ‘Fear’ is simply misplaced confidence.
Out of the 12 spies that were sent to gather intel on the land of Canaan (Numbers 13), 10 of them put their confidence in what they saw (“giants”), while the other 2 put their confidence in God.
This is the same thing David did. While king Saul & his army put their confidence in the might of Goliath, David put his confidence in God, hence his victory (1 Sam. 17).
Another story is that of Peter walking on water. He was afraid of the wind and the waves, but when he set his gaze on Christ, he stood (literally) above the very thing he was afraid of.
When we put our confidence in God, the one who never fails, there’s absolutely nothing that limits us.
When we put your confidence in the obstacle in front of us by being (subconsciously) confident that we can’t overcome it, then surely, we won’t, and fear consumes us.
Whatever it is you’re anxious or afraid of, remember this; it is miniscule and highly inconsequential to the person who protects you.
The more you focus on God, the less attention you give to fear & anxiety.
